What are some videogame franchise titles that you feel do not adequately describe or suit the series of games? Sometimes a title made sense in the beginning but not so much anymore as the gameplay and series evolve over time. One recent example is Assassin's Creed. I am not very familiar with the series but some fans have pointed out that recent games do not star Assassins as the main character, such as Assassin's Creed Valhalla being about Vikings.

Other titles for me:

Grand Theft Auto- Stealing cars is one of the mildest crimes and atrocities you commit in these games. It's not really about the cars. It's about building and running a criminal empire.

Resident Evil- I blame edgy American localization for this one. Resident Evil always seemed to imply something supernatural to me. The horror really comes about more because of science run amok. The Japanese title Biohazard makes a bit more sense to me but even then it seems to convey something about medicine rather than zombies.

Metroid- I've played a few Metroid games. As far as I can tell Metroid refers to a specific type of enemy. It does not even seem to be the most deadly enemy Samus comes across.

The Last of Us- There are clearly many survivors left.

The Legend of Zelda- Zelda hardly does anything from game to game. It should be The Legend of Link! OF LINK!

Mario Kart- It's Nintendo/ Super Smash Kart now.

Super Smash Bros. - So sexist. It should be Super Smash Bros. & Sisters!

Infinite Undiscovery- alright this one is not a franchise but the title still makes no sense.

Thoughts?
