I'm just saying this: The phrase "can't barely tolerate" focuses on the "barely tolerate", since that's the state that's affected by the verb "can". This means that you can't reach the state of almost tolerating something. You either don't tolerate it or you do tolerate it, but you can't reach the brink of tolerance without going either way.
