We will (hopefully) know the price of the PS5 in just under 24 hours. I am hoping for a more competitive generation as that will lead to a better and more robust first-party lineup from Microsoft and Sony.

I hope for this, too...but I also hope for Covid to end tomorrow and for [insert political lambasting of a party here] to stop being foolish about it, but the last few years have done nothing to give that impression. I just don't trust people to not be stupid and I don't trust Microsoft to deliver on, like, ANY of their promises.

At this point I'm happy going back to just having a PS and Nintendo console. I bought Xboxes in Gen 7 and 8 after not bothering in gen 6, but given that I literally spent more time updating the firmware on my Xbox One than I spent playing exclusive games on it...well, I'm not spending that money again. Fool me once and all that.

On the flip side, I've enjoyed the Ps4 and Switch so much that...yeah, I would be happy to pay 599 for a Ps5 if need be. I know that's, from a market perspective, a very bad price...but the amount of time and love I got out of the Ps4 and the fact that I still have a launch console that works perfectly 7 years later tells me that even if it was 999, it'd still be worth it. (I wouldn't pay that much, but value is subjective). Like I said in another thread, I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a bit of a fangirl. 20+ years of delivering the goods, giving us great games, and being reliable consoles (no Red Rings or system failures) tells me that...yeah, they're worth investing time and money into. I'll happily pay whatever they ask becuase my Nintendo and Playstation consoles are a significant part of my life and worth every penny.

Hell, I might go play Dark Souls III with some friends, just for the hell of it.

Totally agree with you that I got a lot more value than I paid for on PS4 and prior, but also probably wouldn`t pay the value I thought because I would be short on cash.
