I would have honestly preferred a straight up remake of any of the three games to this collection, but this is what I was expecting all along. Though I do think they absolutely should've thrown SMG2 in as well if they're just porting, but I always found it highly skeptical Nintendo would ever give us 4 games like that in 1 package. And I called it that they wouldn't give us 3D World this year on top of that, too much risk for cannibalizing the sales with Mario oversaturation. On the plus side, it looks like I may be getting my wish for a sequel of sorts to 3D World with Bowser's Fury, and I couldn't be happier. 3D World definitely deserves a sequel, so underrated. This may not be a proper full blown sequel, but it seems like it could be kind of like a mini sequel, so I'll take it.
I think the biggest takeaway though is that they must still have something up their sleeve for the big holiday game this year, if it's not going to be anything Mario. I'm sure they could have gotten 3D World+ out in time if they didn't have anything else. Can't help but hope they will surprise us and say BOTW2 will be ready for launch this holiday after all.
