So... is this what Nintendo was thinking?
- Port three old games with minimal improvements (if any). Just slap them on the new system. That way, the "developing" costs are negligible.
- Limit physical copies to just a small print. This way, you spent even less money on making the game and force people to consider buying it on digital (which gives you way more money than a physical sale)
- Put a timer on digital sales. Not too small, but small enough to make people worry. That together with the limited physical print will put even more pressure on fans to adquire the game even if they are not entirely convinced
- Sell millions of digital copies with huge benefits
