I find it extraordinarily difficult to get into ANY of the 3D Zelda's after playing Breath of the Wild, even Ocarina of Time which was once an all-time favourite of mine.
While ports of 3D Zeldas are going to be interesting for a bunch of people (kind of like how Link's Awakening was for some people), I'm definitely not a part of that group. The only Zelda game I want is Breath of the Wild 2. We've seen ports of the classics multiple times over.
For Nintendo published ports, there are a few I really want, Xenoblade Chronicles X tops that list with Dragon Quest 9 ranking highly. My shoot-for-the-moon dream port would be a collaboration with Square to bring over Xenogears in basically any form; I am not picky, there's basically only two things I want:
* fixing the bottom of Tower of Babel platforming issues (or removing it/making it auto-work)
* Putting in a speed scroll for the text on disk 2 - it's not even for the game experience itself, but to stop people from complaining about it in VASTLY exaggerated terms.
As a note, the reality is that Xenogears disk 2 has a lot of the best parts of the game in it. Somehow people remember the 10 minutes of slow expositional text, but forget the other 7-10 hours which play out much like the rest of the game - just that you're pushed through a linear path of events, rather than traveling on the map. I think a simple option of giving players the ability to speed through the text at a regular reading rate would remove that perception. Basically, Xenosaga Episode 3 plays out much the same way Xenogears disk 2 did, and many fans of Xenosaga loved that.
Of course, any additional stuff they could do to improve Xenogears would be welcome. I'd LOVE a full Xenoblade style remake.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
