Dead heat between Jurassic Park and Schindler's List in the polls, such vastly different films both released the same year. I mean, I love JP, but for me SL is on another level in terms of filmmaking. That's just me though.

Funny part is that Spielberg literally rushed through filming Jurassic Park because he wanted to make sure that filming the dinosaur movie didn't interfere with his passion project.  If I remember fight, he was afraid Schindler's List might never get made if he got caught on the set of Jurassic Park and getting there was his priority.

He actually wrapped production for Jurassic Park almost two weeks ahead of schedule despite production having to stop when a hurricane hit the set (it greatly helped that Stain Winston's animatronics behaved).  He then moonlighted during Schindler's List production supervising the post-production of Jurassic Park for hours several nights a week.

Keep in mind that Spielberg was an emotional wreck during Schindler's List due to the film's subject matter.  Transitioning between bringing back to life the horrors of the Holocaust and manufacturing the thrills of a monster movie must have been constant emotional whiplash.

Yeah I remember reading about that. Apparently, in addition to putting off making the film for a decade because he was reluctant to take on something such a serious topic, Spielberg refused his salary for Schindler's List as he felt so uncomfortable about making money off the subject matter.
