Perhaps because FF7 is amongst the most influencal and iconic games of the industry. Even if you don't like Jrpg's you have probably heard of Cloud, Sepiroth, Tifa and Aerith. Meanwhile Trials of Mana isn't really iconic (doesn't mean its bad though).
