Why not. There have been native 4k games on big titles on xbox one x. Next gen consoles are more powerful so native 4k should be easily done :). We don't need 1080p games next gen. 

That's because the mid-gen consoles were supposed to be 4k consoles, not next gen consoles. If everything goes native 4k, we would practically be playing the same games we're getting now as native 4k is just way too resource heavy. 1440p and/or checkerboard rendering makes much more sense and they can put all that resources into boosting overall visual fidelity.
