The past two months were the biggest non-holiday months ever in the U.S. in terms of same-gen hardware sales (excluding pure handhelds), as reckoned by the NPD, with over 1.5M units. It was also the best April ever for any PlayStation or Xbox system, as well as the second-best non-holiday month for the PS4 and tied with Oct. 2016 for the XBO's best non-holiday month. April is usually one of the worst months of the year for hardware sales, and with these charts you can see just how out of the ordinary these sales are for all three current systems, especially compared to their usual April performances.
