My prices are at 120, but, like....eeeeh. I gave up on this game.

I Recently saw a video about 'new updates coming to Animal Crossing New Horizons', meant to look like a Nintendo Direct. It was fake, but seeing that video made me realize just how deliberately frustrating and obtuse Animal Crossing actually is. Just a lot of forced redundancy and purposefully clunky controls meant to make you go slower and struggle more. I just went looking for it and apparently it doesn't exist anymore (It was either deleted or went private; Nintendo probably filed a lawsuit because...well...I love Nintendo games and products but seriously fuck their iron grip on their IPs and complete lack of respect for their audience)

But yeah, little things were always slightly naggy to me in this game, and seeing about a dozen of them outright laid out for us and all the remarkably simple ways the game could be made better made me realize....nope. I went from playing this game 5-8 hours a day and loving it to...I think I kinda hate it now just for how little it respects its players. I put over 75 hours into the game making it I think my 5th most played game on the Switch...and I might never touch it again now that I really saw how deliberately frustrating and time-wasting the game is.

I agree, and that's the main reason why I can't give this game a 10/10. The only reason why I'm so addicted to Animal Crossing is because of the lockdown. I'm sure I wouldn't enjoy the game as much in my common normal life days, not when I need 5 different selections pages just to go to a friend's island and god forbid me to select anything wrong

The app designer seems specifically painful to use, seems they really want us to spend one hour just to remove a river. Want to change your looks? Need to go at home and find a mirror. Are in the airport and need a NMT, first you need to go to island services. Want to craft many things at once? You can't

It's just too much time to waste. I'm someone who spend almost 2 months to finish only one game (Zelda BOTW). In normal situation I would still stuck convincing Isabelle my island was worth 3 stars, how am I supposed to manage all my island daily needs if the game want me to spend like 2 hours a day to do so?

I'm kind feelling blue cause I won't have time once everything going into normality again. It will take a while, at least 1 and half months I guess, but once it happens I will start to play Animal Crossing only when I'm bored of other games and curious to see how my island is doing. Or once a new season/event starts

In a positive side, until there I will something like 300 to 400 hours of game played. So it definitely worth my 60 USD. It give so many social interactions and a helping me to handle this insanity of pandemia on daily basis. Animal Crossing is just making my life much happier each day that I wake up 6 AM to do all my stuff before my home office start
