SWITCH PRO SPECULATION

Still thinking we will see a Switch Pro this year and expecting a $50 price drop for the Base and Lite units.

It will be a bundle that will include a Peripheral computing device focused on living room gaming in front of the TV. Nintendo games will still be released on the entire ecosystem but there would be exclusive 3rd party content on the new device. GTA V and other similar games will not be compatable with older Switches without a Peripheral device being present.

Switch Pro will receive a lot of ports from 3rd party games from the older gen.

This will be mainly used to extend the lifecycle of the Switch until Switch 2 is announced for 2022 or 2023.

Don't think that is likely. Don't see Nintendo splitting the userbase up with some peripheral. If anything, Switch Pro will probably just be a premium version of the original Switch: better screen, slighly better specs to run games a little smoother, longer battery, more storage space, bluetooth, ya know stuff like that. That seems infinitely more likely than Nintendo trying to divide up the user base in order to get a few more ports.

Also, some more powerful version of Switch isn't needed to extend Switch's life cycle, especially if you are just talking about 2022/2023. 2022 is only two years away and Switch is in its prime, to say it needs something to get it to 2022 is ridiculous. It's currently selling better than any system in the past decade, its not gonna suddenly be limping along in desperate need of replacement in two years haha. Switch Pro, just like any other revision to Nintendo portables, will be to keep that higher price in the market for people who will pay a premium for the best version of something, and also to get some rebuys from some who already own it but buy all versions cuz they're super fans or just wouldn't mind updating to a slightly better version after a few years.
