With the amount of money Nintendo has and with the current success of the Nintendo Switch they have plenty of options. They can even try something risky as long as they have success with Nintendo Switch and its successor to balance it out. However, Nintendo repeated many times that they see their short-term as well as their long-term main business in the dedicated and integrated video games-hardware and software business. It simply is the way to go. To have some successful side business is always welcome but Nintendo IS a video-games company. It is their identity and nothing will change that so quickly. Their corporate slogan is "to bring smiles on peoples faces". I truly think that's what they strive for. Yes, of course it is a capitalist company but the two don't exclude each other as we can see with their over 35 years of success (with some hiccups).
