It doesn't require magic. When a screen is shown at a higher than actual resolution it causes "jaggies." IGN screens would be at the native resolution and thus have few jaggies.

But when the IGN screenshots come in and show the same thing (general lack of detail, and graphical prowess), can I talk about it then?

Hmmm....I could have sworn you only referred to the jaggies...maybe I missed that part of your original post.
