It's also the day I phoned, there was no phone in the room and due to the quarantine stuff it was hard for the nurses to get a phone to him, but they did. They were great, really nice the whole time and they just wouldn't say no, they made it happen. Full credit to them for being so nice and helpful when they surely must be exhausted with the amount of work they've got at the moment. Easily the most upsetting phonecall I've ever had, how can it not be when you know it's probably the last time you'll ever speak to somebody that you love? But I got to speak to him one last time, I got to say goodbye. That's something at least. |
My condolences. As you said, at least you got to speak to him one last time, and say goodbye. Many aren't afforded that opportunity.
