TIP: don’t upgrade tools at all early on, DIY crafting, trashing tools, and crafting tools gives a large amount of Nook Miles.
TIP2: I’ve found focusing on the quests is the best way for short term progress and longer term goals.
TIP3: There is a work bench on the other islands you can fly to, but bring tools for convenience.
TIP4: look on flowers for bugs when on islands. on my first island I did the stupid thing of collecting all the flowers and only noticed a ladybug when I had like 3 flowers lefT.
POTENTIAL TIP? - I am also not sure if this was available day 1, but at the store if you hit the R button you can access more stuff like tools, including a shovel.
