Hopefully not true.

1) Either it will be left behind in dirt once we leave currentgen with bad ports. Plenty of 720p-900p games and zero ray tracing options on the platform.

2) It holds back next gen systems and is used as a base 1080p console, whilst PS5 & XSX simply get a resolution boost whereas before developers would of had free reign in how to use the 9-12Tflop GPU. Now they must ensure games look decent at 1080p on a 4Tflop system too.

Moreover I don't understand the need for releasing a system slightly better than X1X. MS said they will support current gen for 2 years, so if people want a cheaper system they can just buy X1X or even X1S. By the time next gen gets into full swing XSX will be cheaper. All the meanwhile people with 1080p TVs should able to benefit from higher graphic settings. 1080p 60fps Max setting modes should be the norm next gen as opposed to entirely different boxes being made for people 1080p TVs. Even those with 4k sets will sometimes want to pick fps & vfx (including ray tracing) over resolution.
