Do you actually believe that BS?  He said, "We hold these truths to be self evident, all men and women were created by....you know , you know the, you know the thing.".  How does the Declaration of Independence start [you know....the thing]? "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." 

It doesn't say "God".  And even before the mention of a "creator" are the words after his blunder, "....equal, that they are endowed by their creator." 

So even if he wanted to say "God" rather than "Creator", he failed to get far enough into the passage to do it.

He gaffed.  Period.   And it's painful to watch people trying to come up with lame excuses for how or why he gaffed.

Now I'll give you a pass because you're Canadian rather than a US citizen.  It's not fair on you for us to expect you to know the preamble of the Declaration of Independence verbatim.   But I damn sure expect my president to.

Appreciate it, as I don't know how it's written exactly, but that's how I've always heard it said.

Though in today's climate, specifying "men" when woman should be included, is seen as a problem by one side, as well as religion in general. "God" or "Creator" is just a different word for the same thing in that instance, which tends to get avoided by one side if possible as well. That's why it would still make sense that he could have attempted to avoid it. Maybe he didn't, totally possible, but the loss of words isn't much better, when taking into account how often that tends to happen, along with using the wrong words or numbers, more and more often.

Verbal communication is huge for a President, which is one of the reasons why Trump won his election, ironically some would say, so Biden is going to have a really tough time against Trump in this respect. That's not to say Biden doesn't have other qualities that some will prefer over Trump.
