These arbitrary rules, excuses, and assumptions to say otherwise like cannibalizing and "but it's a kart racer so it wont be that new" are definitely not coming from a business perspective. Such things are irrelevant, only sales matter. Thus the comparison with BotW is totally accurate as they're both big sellers who's sales demand a sequel both to please the fans and Nintendo's wallet.

MK8D on switch and MK9 as a launch tittle for the switch 2 is what makes the most money for the franchise.
