The droughts were horrible.

In 2013 pretty much nothing worthwhile released in the entire first half of the year.

In 2015 Splatoon, Xenoblade X, Yoshi's Woolly World, Fast Racing Neo, and Fatal Frame, just 5 worthwhile games all year with months in between of fuck all.

2016 was a wasteland.

The same happened with the switch, and it was worse because it didn't run wiiU or wii games.

In the first 6 months we had only Mario + rabbids which was not as good or fun as ZombiU. The rest were ports of wiiU (the wiiU actually had more, it had the full wii library).

Mario Odyssey came in October and Xenoblades 2 in December.

I bought both consoles at launch and I had more to play on wiiU in the first 6 months.

In its first six months Switch also got BOTW, (new game, not a late port) and Splatoon 2.

For fairness, if we're going to discount old Wii U ports to Switch, we also discount old Wii games playable on Wii U.

The Wii U only had one year with a consistent and adequate release schedule, 2014, Switch has already had two. (2017 and 2019)
