A lot wrong in your comment, but the main point being: Nintendo doesn't care what you want, that IS your problem. They care about what is going to make the most sense from a business perspective. Mario Kart 9 on the Switch would be a pretty stupid decision, which Zorg pointed out very clearly. It's not Nintendo's problem that you don't understand that.

I guess BotW2 is a pretty stupid decision too then. Prioritizing sequels to your biggest sellers over smaller/uncertain sellers is just terrible business sense.

To me, the differences are stunningly obvious in terms of business sense.

Mario Kart 9 just cannibalizes Mario Kart 8 and splits the userbase. About 1/3rd of new Switch users are going to buy Mario Kart 8, and maintaining the existing userbase will encourage those sales to continue.

Breath of the Wild 2 is a sequel that takes what the original built and creates a second adventure. It adds to the original rather than replaces it. It might even increase the sales of the original for those who don't have either but want to play both.

Mario Kart 9 would also be the perfect game to launch the next console.

But in short, Mario Kart 9 replaces Mario Kart 8. Breath of the Wild 2 is a companion to Breath of the Wild 1.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
