About the rest of your post... Yeah, I am pretty aware that Sakurai can do that, but there's something... He's not making the game only for himself. He wants people to buy the DLC, the more the merrier.

But if he keep putting characters that almost no one cares or know, adds absolutely nothing to the roster for having to many similarities and/or for being too dull and its franchise is already represented in the game. Us, the potential consumers, have all the rights to calling him out for his poor choices for the roster.

He should keep adding characters who bring epic trailers and epic battles, that almost everyone cheers, instead of making fanservicing for specific franchises. That's a thing to honor his vision of making smash the celebration of gaming history.

There was a reason they released Byleth/an FE character as the last one in Pack 1. They know that there will be quite a few people angry. So they make sure tonnes of smash players already bought the pack and not as individual before Byleth was announced. 

They even made fun of how there was too many swordfighters in Smash when he got revealed. Like when Terry was announced they revealed there will be another DLC Pack 2 with 5 new characters. They know people wont be happy with Terry. And this time they added a 6th character in Pack 2. To make the angry fans less angry and give them more hope for their fave ones to appear. 

You cant please everyone. If you think they can then you need to wake up.

Yeah, I am delusional yet you think that just quite a few people got angry with Byleth reveal.

When Banjo got reveled do I think that exactly EVERYONE got excited? Of course no, but a HUGE part(See, I not said everyone) of the gaming community got excited with this as opposed to the MASS disappointment that was Byleth. Why is that? Read my posts again(the bolded part  especially) bc I don't feel like repeating myself.

Sakurai may have tricked a lot of people to put Byleth in their roster, but next time they won't get lured to buy the second wave season pass to get another dull fire emblem fanservicing
