I think the best thing to do is make the Lockhart its own letter designator. Anaconda is Series X, Lockhart is Series S. Future iterations should be Xbox Series 2 X and Xbox Series 2 S. This is simple and easy to understand. The Worst thing they can do now is go into the Xperia line of naming. If we end up with something like Xbox Series 1, Xbox Series 5, Xbox Series 10, Xbox Series Z, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series T, Xbox Series XZ, then it is going to completely confuse consumers just like Sony has done. With multiple tiers, there needs to be a clear identification of what is the Top, Middle, and Low end, in addition to what is current, and what is prior. I hope they are able to brand and market it in a way that the masses can understand. It would be a shame if they deliver a great product, and have it fail, in part, due to bad branding like we saw with WiiU and Vita. |
Not sure which way you're leaning. At first you say the models should have different letters and that would work out good, yet then mention that having different letters would be a problem. Or are you mocking me since I said X1, X2, etc would be bad, then realized just skipping X1 would fix the problem?
If they want to do slim models, considering they've been using the letter "S" to identify that version, calling launch Lockhart the S model would be odd since the slim version would then be known and the 'XB Series SS'. I'd stick to X,Y,Z if they are going that route. Actually maybe not Z because the slim ZS model would be a Z's sleeping meme nightmare.
Could go Series XL for Lockhart, but make Anaconda Series XX becauuse XA doesn't sound right. Which would lead to XLS and XXS I guess?
I dunno, XB and names are just a mess all around. I kinda like my X2, X3, X4, X5 idea now. Seems quite simple and easily matches Anaconda with PS5.
