Welcome to VGChartz and the forums! The Nintendo DS did that during its peak years during the holiday quarters (October-December) in 2007 with 12.16 million, in 2008 with 13.38 million and in 2009 with 11.79 million. It just missed 10 million in 2010 (9.20 million). 

As for home consoles the Nintendo Wii did it during its peak holiday quarters in 2008 with 10.69 million and in 2009 with 11.66 million. It also sold 8.73 million in 2010.

So it's been done, just not in a while, lol.
