Im not sure to what extent Nintendo is involved in the development process, but I believe Game Freak has the final word on what the game will be. Nintendo could ask them to do better, but I don't think they could demand better quality. Its hard to say. I mean what is better quality when the games constantly sell over 10 million? What could they do to make the games sell even more at this point?

This is an interesting gen..If Sw/Sh sell close to 20 million (maybe around 18 million or so), then I would presume that it would be more than worth it for Nintendo, Game Freak, and TPCi. Though I don't know if the long-rumored D/P remakes are being made at this time to release next year.

Even then, I don't know how they can manage the game releases moving forward. There are so many variables beyond the typical game development cycle as Pokemon is the biggest multimedia IP in the world. It comes at a cost, unfortunately, as merch, TCG, anime, movies, etc. are impacted by the games (maybe less on the live-action movies and more on the anime movies). Plus, I don't know if there is anyone within Nintendo who is familiar with Game Freak and its staff as Iwata was back in the day. Who is familiar with working with Satoshi Tajiri, Masuda, Ohomri, and Co.?

The constant projects might have dug GF in as HD development is more costly and time consuming than the 3DS. I don't know if simply hiring more people would be the answer as it also takes time for new hires to get integrated with GF's culture and work environment, just like any institutional job.

By the way, what happened to Genius Sonority? They are the makers of Colosseum, XD and Battle Revolution, the only studio that's made a propper Pokemon game outside of Game Freak. Why couldn't they help? What are they doing right now?

You know it deserves the GOTY.
