Yep but what I find interesting is that it's only the best selling if all the different genres/series within it is combined. Pokémon is the biggest franchise if you only count it against the 2d or 3d platform games. Mario kart on its own is #4 I believe.

But that's only if you count all Pokemon games together, regardless of whether they're spinoffs or not. The core RPG series has sold 239.57 million units combined versus 2D Mario at 246.65 million. And even this is unfair, since we're combining all Pokemon RPGs regardless of whether they're remakes or revised versions, while we're splitting Mario platformers into 2D and 3D. Combined, Mario platformers are at 329.54 million.

If you want a breakdown: Flagship Pokemon RPGs have sold 136.60 million, upgraded releases have sold 52.78 million, and remakes have sold 50.19 million.
