If I lived by a glass half empty attitude, I could see where you were coming from, but there's plenty that could be done to alleviate the situation. This also isn't just a VGC thing, but with the continued growth of social media, the more primitive chat room forums [like this one] were always going to decline some. What happened with Resetera proves that a little change can go a long way. No, not every revitalization will birth something of the magnitude, but it's worth a shot. So, there's nothing really to "stop" — discussions like these are exactly how upgrades/revitalizations happen in the first place. |
You are putting to much faith in the idea of next gen miraculously turning this ship around in light of the fact most members who left did so for site specific reasons. There are several members who left because we stopped tracking software; why would next gen change that? Site design, over moderating, abundance of political threads, ext. Why would next gen help these?
Have we thought about opening a site kickstart where members can donate what they weekly, stack till 1000, and find/pay site designer to design a new site before next gen?
