It does support my case, that Switch does not compete directly with Playstation and Xbox. There's no indication PS5 will be any different from PS4 in this respect. We can safely say PS5 will be another traditional console aimed at the same demographic, hence if Switch doesn't clash with one, it won't clash with the other.

As I said before, XBox360 had no impact on PS2 sales.  It had quite a bit of an impact on PS3 sales.  Your argument that "Switch does not compete directly with Playstation and XBox" is not a good one.  When the XBox360 was released it did not compete with the PS2.  A person could have said "XBox360 does not compete with Playstation, therefore it won't compete with PS3".  That person would be dead wrong.

Let's put it this way.  If Scarlett came out this year, it wouldn't affect PS4 sales either.  Understand?  When Scarlett actually does release next year it also won't affect PS4 sales.  Does that mean that Playstation and XBox don't directly compete?

In the same way, the data in this thread does not suggest that Switch and PS5 don't compete.

Past cases such as PS2/360/PS3 are not relevant because this situation is absolutely nothing like those past cases.

Switch is a totally different product to PS4, so they don't directly compete. The only way Switch and PS5 will directly compete is if PS5 turns out to be a Switch-like hybrid, which is extremely unlikely.
