Thank you.... And this is exactly the point I am and have been making since 2017. From day one, it's been wrong to compare a hybrid to a home console. It is its own thing. The issue was that in the beginning, we lumped in hybrid in with home consoles primarily because it had "one ting" in common with them. It could be plugged into a TV. Now there is a version of said hybrid (and likely the one that will go onto be the best selling version of it) and it is a full-blown dedicated handheld. But aparently, I am the one that doesn't and still don't know what a hybrid is. I foresaw this exact predicament. |
If Switch Lite starts being the best version relating sales (and i mean, clearly the best), maybe people will start considering Switch a handheld system, until then Switch is going to be considered in the same sentence as PS and XB. The thing is that if Switch would started in 2017 just like the Lite version and then in 2019 a version where you could plug the console into a tv with better specs for 100$ more then there would've been any doubts if it was a thing or another...., but things are what they are. It's better to just accept it and move on. You can decide if you want to compare Switch (in all of its versions) vs PS and XB. From my point of view, i decided long ago that what i'm comparing is the best thing Sony/Microsoft are trying against the best thing Nintendo is trying. If Nintendo needs the help of the combined home console/handheld crowd to bring a "battle" to compete against PS4 sales..., well then, it is what it is, and it make things more fun.
