| Hiku said: Ah, that's what I expected regarding the kisses (aside from the Odyssey thing), but I looked up a video compilation of Peech kissing Mario to make sure, and to refresh my memory. And it appears to always be pecks on the cheek, nose or hat, after he saves her. By the way, have you considered what kind of unique game mechanic/s Daisy would have in her game? |
Nearest I can tell, the 1993 Super Mario Bros. movie was actually the origin of the idea of Daisy and Luigi being a couple and also the origin of her reconception as a tomboyish character (she's an archeologist in the movie). Needless to say, the infamous (but hilariously so, IMO) movie is completely non-canonical (Daisy in that film is obviously supposed to be Princess Toadstool (as Peach was known back then), being as she's blonde and turns out to be the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom and everything, but was renamed Daisy because the filmmakers found that would be a more credible name to have in Brooklyn), but Nintendo gave the relationship between Luigi and Daisy in that film some official credence in the official character description in Mario Party 4 instruction by saying that they're "rumored" to be a couple, and also by then had made Daisy a punchier character. The Mario Party 4 character bios also claim that Waluigi also is also attracted to Daisy, to the latter's annoyance.
Concerning play mechanics, not really to tell you the truth. I was just thinking this was a fun idea that will never be realized anyway, so the details don't matter. However, I imagine Daisy as a sort of Kaguya or Jasmine type princess, but to a qualitatively greater degree: a free spirited princess who doesn't really want to be a princess. I can even imagine a Braid-like scenario in which she secretly hired Tatanga to "kidnap" her that one time so she could escape castle life.
