I hated achievements when they came into place, however over the course of time, achievements showcases progression and can show you and others that you finished the game.
I finished Mario Odyessey and Zelda BOTW, how can i prove this? I cannot unless they see my hours spent ingame and my lucky photos i took of me fighting the end boss etc.
Having achievements even just basic achievements like completing levels etc would be welcomed. They dont need to go full hardcore like in the Gears games where you need to play 1000 matches etc.
