Yeah man, I agree with that. I know I'm a nintendo fanboy or whatever, lol, but I'm just not too big on any peripheral that doesn't do anything, like a sword or a football cover for the Wii-Mote.
Now, I cant' say I'm a Wii-Fit kind of guy, but at least that peripheral has a feature.
Another great peripheral that I like is the Guitar from Guitar Hero.
