Yeah at this point I think they'd be better off taking a leaf from Nintendo's book in how they handled their comeback from Wii U to Switch. Sometimes it's better off not to spend too much resources bailing out a sinking ship; you weather the storm for a bit, regroup, then come out swinging with the next system.
Nintendo for instance could have slashed the Wii U's price to $200 in 2016 or made more of their early Switch titles cross-gen, but they chose not to, focusing instead on the future.
