Wolfenstein II is the ducks nuts, followed by Doom.
They don't look as impressive as they potentially can due to the lower rendering resolution, but they are still impressive technical achievements all things considered.
Smash takes it for it's stylized approach, it may not be pushing the most effects, but it's overall package is certainly fantastic.
