There are way too many good animes to recommend. Have you tried Made in Abyss yet? That plot certainly doesn't move slowly. When in doubt, check out my 9s and 10s.

With Kemurikusa ending, so does the best anime of the season. It was great from start to finish. If it had the same production quality as Houseki no Kuni it would be the strongest contender for AOTY.
