I already edit my post . But it still unclear because they said "“You would be wrong to think the enhanced version is similar to what Sony did with PS4 Pro and the other is just a cheap alternative that looks very similar to some past hand-held machines, say, Sony’s PlayStation Vita,” |
That next portion is the vague part of the report. It can be interpreted multiple ways. Given the chipset family the Switch uses, it seems to indicate a mobile strategy: which makes sense from a business standpoint since this model is a proven success. Switch generation 2, in other words. A bigger sort of strategy than “Pro” and “slim” models. It means we could see Switch generation 3 as early as fall 2021, which upgrade both tiers. iOS and Samsung (and likely other phone companies) use this strategy. But yeah, we don’t know yet. It only seems that is the direction they should go, as the business model has an edge on the competition by having more frequent big hardware launches, and ensuring there is always a relatively new model available. Nintendo Switch would be the strongest competitor in the console marketplace until at least such time that Sony and Microsoft update their practices.
A mobile-style strategy also solves the unpredictability of the console market place; since the trajectory of populatirty has a far stronger chance of following through to the next generation. I solves the problem of throwing mostly everything away and starting fresh each new 5-7 year generation. Essentially, the Switch could stay alive indefinitely. Until such point that some kind of hyper advance new chipset architecture, not compatible with existing architectures, becomes available that no one can pass up: not happening any time soon.
Anyway, it’s just my take.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
