There's an easier way.  The slope of x = 1 is undefined.  Thus, you can't take the derivative of it.

Anyways what's the function you are derivating? f(x) = x? which means y=x if you call y your function.

So dy/dx = 1.  

But x=1 is not a function you can't derivate it.
