For people who think there will be 2 PS5 models at launch, what exactly is the difference you think $100-200 is going to make?

Remember the whole basis of the 2 Xbox models is that one is essentially going to be a weak 1080p entry console at X1X level spec in 2020 ($299?). I just can’t see Sony doing that and without the base system being intentionally gimped, I don’t see how a premium at launch would offer a marketable difference.

Maybe Checkerboard 4K versus Native 4K could be the point but I’m not sure that’s compelling enough and regardless of how often the base PS5 hits 4K they’re going to market it as a 4K system just like the Pro. Also consider the cost inefficiency and slowing of production at launch by offering 2 different internal specs, and the chance to completely misjudge the demand for one system over another... it just doesn’t seem realistic.

A premium 4 years in with more raytraving capabilities, resolution boost (since not all PS5 games will hit 4K) stability & better HDD/SSD, generally higher graphics settings would make more sense and be far more financially viable and less disruptive to their marketing.
