I am mentioning optional Joy-Con and dock purchases because I make a clear distinction between handheld-first and handheld-only. The latter wouldn't be a Switch anymore.

I also said that in practical terms the vast majority of customers wouldn't pursue the optional upgrade path, which is logical because I had already mentioned that the target demographic of such a Switch Mini SKU are people who already have one Switch in their household (that unit already serving the TV usage) or are people who are specifically looking for portability.

As far as I've understood your point, you are against this idea because of supposedly unknowing parents being prone to making the wrong purchase.

Well its' clear you never understood my point, because that's only one of several reasons I mentioned, and you've chosen to focus on just one.

So how can something be "optional" if the device actually physically not be used properly with the accessories in question? It's like saying an SD card is an an optional accessory on a PS Vita because companies actually do make adapters to make a micro SD card work with a hacked Vita. Just because there is a work around that involves purchasing additional accessories in order to use a product as intended doesn't make that accessory "optional".
