There might be a "Switch mini" but it isn't getting any less tall, it isn't losing joycon support, and you're going to be able to attach the joycons on the sides.

As for those claiming it would have to work with the dock - well, maybe, but if it were shorter and not as wide, there would be no way to remove it, and again, no way to dock it while charging the joycons. You would definitely need a redesigned dock.                             

There are already charging grips and charging stands for the Joy-Cons.

That's not convoluted at all. I'm sure the clueless parents of gaming children will totally be pleased by that.
