It's gotta happen early Feb or they've screwed all their momentum royally. They've had a terrible 2019 PR wise so far.

As super_etecoon said..I don't think Nintendo is off to a bad start at all in 2019, even from a PR standpoint. The MP4 delay, while disappointing, was not panned by most fans and writers. Nintendo had a clear message that, "Hey, we know fans have been waiting for Metroid Prime 4. Unfortunately, we felt that at its current state, it was not up to our standards, so we decided to start over and have Retro Studios partake in the development of the project. We are sorry and we hope you continue to keep up with updates for our upcoming games."

Plus, you cannot tell me that the PR, however you think they did so far, overshadowed the tremendous success reported from NPD.

I can't see how 2019 has been a positive for Nintendo so far with the things I mentioned. We don't even have release windows, let alone release dates for the games people are actually looking forward to. Like I said earlier the only thing we know for sure that is coming this year thus far is Yoshi in March. Beyond that we really can't say. I think they need to actually start speaking to fans and either get out a press release or a direct and highlight at least some launch windows here to keep momentum going for 2019.  From a Nintendo fans perspective here, I do not see reason to be hyped for Switch at this current time(Jan 2019) when the horizon is just Yoshi atm.  Now talking in ''potential releases'' this year, the lineup sounds bad ass, but thats just potential. We need some concrete windows/dates assurance that these titles will indeed launch this year.

That's why I feel a Feb direct is crucial for them to maintain the moment they got over the holiday season. Gotta speak to your consumers, cant go into radio silence mode and try to coast
