It really is sad how little love the series gets outside of Japan, but it's of Square's own doing sadly. They don't promote anywhere near enough. V and XI are some of the best games ever made and deserve more recognition than they get.
I suspect it will get more of a push when the Switch version comes and that the Switch version will be the best selling one overall, but that remains to be seen. Knowing Square's missteps with the series, they'll release it the same week as this year's mainline Pokemon
