From a pure conceptual perspective, which is the better "Gimmick controller", Wii U Gamepad, or Joy-Con?

I never had much of a problem with it. It's just something that's subjective in terms of comfort. Though I do feel Nintendo should release Joy-Con singles grips for those who want something easier to grip.
