The funny thing is I don't think Nintendo ever really imposed censorship after the SNES days, it was more live devs censored because they wanted to.
Also with Nintendo's demographic it most games with that kind of content weren't developed for the system.
But R rated games were always there to an extent and Nintendo of Japan has NEVER been part of the censorship debacle themselves anyway.
And the recent censorship problem a few years ago? All of them were Nintendo IPs. They have the freedom to choose to do so and it's somewhat understandable if frustrating. Bayonetta and devil's third was left intact, and senran kagura as a series STARTED on the 3ds.

Sony here though, is REALLY stepping out of bounds here by restricting content from other devs that they should have NO hold over at ALL.
