My opinion - The majority of people continuing to play the 3ds are probably children. I'd imagine the majority of us adults have moved on to the Switch, Wii U, something else, or are planning to do so while we get adult life figured out. Metroid is niche (don't hate me, look at the sales numbers) and their main player base would have absolutely purchased this a whole lot more if Nintendo had A) released it on the 3ds years prior or B) Made it HD and released it on the Switch (especially as a launch title). The sales would easily be over a million if they had done the second one, and probably close to 2-3 million by now. Just my thoughts.
