I don't know, that sounds like victim blaming. Maybe both rumors are true and they padling back or the second rumor isn't true and ciri is going to be bame, maybe they don't give a shit about angry internet nerds or they used it as free publicity. We just don't know.
A bunch of people lost their shit about a rumor nobody knew if it was true or not. Why not just wait and see until we have something concrete like an official press release.
For example:
"Netflix hires Colin Kaepernick to play Ciri in their upcoming Witcher TV-series
the director says: "Colin is a perfect fit for the role. When he kneels, he's exactly as tall as Ciri is in the first book.""
