To be fair, he wasn't far off as far as my teenage years go =)
I actually DID prefer to play slow games, alone, in a dark room most of the time (I was a Civ fan afterall), and was likely depressed a good 10-50% of the time.
But using that as a justification for not having a big RPG presence on Nintendo home consoles at the time felt more like "we don't need those pathetic losers." followed by one horking spat in the face!
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
