Why does it have to be black. There seems to be an assumption that they are looking for a dark skinned person but the BAME reference just means non white. An asian woman would fit just as well and you can pretty much keep your complexion close enough.
At the end of the day, I wonder exactly how many people who are against this change are any other color but white. I would take a stab and say that its probably over 95%. The reason issue is that its not the skin color, change in book canon or anything like that it's really about relating to the character. Its why the majority of video game Hero characters are white males and if you throw in a woman it would be white female. Studies have found that this is what White people expect and other colors tolerate so sales can stay high. It's not really racist its just stereotypical and conditional at this point. This is why when we see any change to this formula, a lot of push back comes out as the cute term SJW.

I'm guessing they're looking for an Arabic actress personally, but could be Asian. I highly doubt they are looking for a black actress.

When are they finally going to give the proper representation that Indigenous Australians and Japanese Ainus deserve?
It would clearly be racist to not give the role of Ciri to one of them.
(I'm sure we'll see something like that one day though, with a lot of media coverage about how woke it is...)
