From what I see it's the deliberate choice to exclude white actresses from playing a character that in the books and game is pretty much as white as can be. It would at least keep the appearance of fairness to not deliberately exclude white actresses from applying to that role, even if in the end they decided to pick a non-white actress.

I'm 99% sure these same people would be pissed if they decided to cast Blade as a white guy or Light (Death note) as a white guy as well (yet the last one actually happened and I couldn't force myself to even watch that train wreck).

From my personal take I would love to see different stories told, with new characters of whatever racial diversity the authors want to make them, I just don't get why directors feel the need to hijack an established character and then change them for no apparent reason. 

No I completely understand. And Blade is actually a black character who could shift to being a different race and not have it affect his story. Blade isn’t like Luke Cage or John Stewart Green Lantern. Both those characters are from rough, black neighborhoods that play a role in who they are. And you’re absolutely right about if it were the other way around those in favor would be pissed.

I was on the other side when they changed Johnny Storm. It just frustrates me that whenever a minority (usually black) character is added to something it’s always met with argument surrounding their addition. The Beyond Good & Evil trailer had a black female character who’s just there, they didn’t shift an old character. They just created a new one. People fussed about it. People gripes about Nadine Ross being added to Uncharted as an “SJW” move even though there’s been minority characters in every Uncharted game. Maybe my ill-feelings go deeper than what’s at hand but these things have occurred. But yeah, don’t change Ciri. If she’s anything other than what we know her to be then she’s not Ciri (in my opinion). 

I agree, don't change Citi... hell, don't change any established character, just create new ones and feel free to make them as diverse as possible :)
