Nintendo's first half of 2018: How bad is it?

It's not a stand-out year like last year, but for me, Switch is doing more than enough to keep me entertained. I have broad tastes when it comes to games, so keeping on top of the latest releases is less and less important to me; there's simply too much stuff. So what if a game is late on Switch? I can still play it when it arrives, and I'll play other stuff in the mean-time.

That being said, there are issues. The lack of any UI updates or save storage solution that doesn't require the subscription is poor form. A few streaming apps wouldn't go amiss and further details about the online mode would be good, but presumably the latter at least will be coming soon. Commercially, Nintendo have made a mistake in leaving such a huge gap between guaranteed system-sellers and that's something I really think they need to avoid in future.

But like I said, Switch keeps me busy and entertained with ease. There's more than enough software for me to consider buying and 2019 looks like it's going to shape up nicely: Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Daemon X Machina, Yoshi, and Pokemon Gen 8 could be joined by things like Dragon Quest XI, Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3. And that's without further announcements, which we know will come.

Thank you for this response. You reminded me of a couple of games I forgot to mention like Golf Story, DS Remastered and Bayo3. Will add those.

Here we can see that the Switch still hold done well against the PS4 even starting with one Q3 less.
